Hizbollah TV Blood Libel: Jews Take Blood from Christian Child for Passover Matzah (19.11.03)
By Itamar Marcus,
Palestinian Media Watch
"The Diaspora" [Al-Shatat], is a Syrian produced series aired on Al-Manar, Hizbollah TV, nightly at 9:30. The series covers the period of the Zionist movement, and is based on the traditional anti-Semitic libels found in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Zionist Jews are said to rule the world with sophisticated plots, among them causing the Communist revolution in Russia, directing World War One and more. The Jews are described as greedy and bloodthirsty, interested only in power, and world domination from the Land of Israel, called "Palestine".
The attached video-clip is taken from episode 20, Nov. 18, 2003. The Jewish leadership initiates the murder of a Christian boy to drain his blood for Passover Matzah, which is then eaten on Passover.

Dehumanization of Israelis in official PA daily (9.10.03)
By Itamar Marcus,
Palestinian Media Watch
Introduction:
The dehumanization of Israelis and Jews, including their depiction as animals, is common in the PA print media. In recent days the PA has increased the animal-like depictions of Israelis. The following three depictions of Israelis as wolf, alligator and worm, all appeared this week in the official PA daily Al Hayat Al Jadida.
For more examples of dehumanizing Israelis and Jews, click here.
1. Israel the wolf is about to devour the new PA government.

[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 4, 2003]
2. Israel the alligator eats Palestinians.

[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 9, 2003]
3. Israel and the US are portrayed as worms together eating the Arab World. Israel starting from its own land [claimed by the PA] and the USA starting from Iraq.
Text: on the apple: Arab world.

PA Libel: Zionists participated in Holocaust for political gain (26.6.03)
By Itamar Marcus,
Palestinian Media Watch
Introduction:
Palestinian Authority alternates between Holocaust denial and Holocaust memory abuse. This week the PA daily proposed the libel that Zionist leaders participated in the Holocaust for 2 purposes: to eliminate Jewish opposition and to force Jews to run from Europe and go to British Mandate Palestine.
The following is from an article in the PA daily:
"If coming back to the suffering and tribulations (caused) by the Nazis, we would read hair-raising things about the entanglement of the Zionist leaders in the "sacrifice" of many Jews in order to kill two birds with one stone: to be rid of those who disagreed with them (meaning Jews opposed to Zionism) on the one hand and, on the other, to push all the Jews to immigrate to Palestine, since Europe had become an unbearable Hell."
"I would like to say that, based on the above, the Jewish - or more accurately Zionist - willingness to sacrifice Jews for the above mentioned cause is a known historical tradition."

Palestinians Teach Holocaust Denial Again (29.5.03)
By Itamar Marcus,
Palestinian Media Watch
Introduction:
In yet another case of odious Palestinian Authority Holocaust denial, PA TV this week taught the following "Truths" about World War II:
It is curious that the PA has chosen this period to initiate this interview, as many of these same points appear in a Holocaust denial book by PA Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas.
The following is the PA TV interview with Ismail Elbakawi, translator of the book: "The Fundamentalism of the Jews in Israel." Elbakawi is discussing a book called: "The Holocaust Industry" and his statements are supported by the interviewer.
Elbakawi: "[The Holocaust] was a real event that occurred from 1939 to 1945. However, it did not just affect the Jews in Europe, but also other nations including the Poles, the Hungarians, the Russians - as you remember, 20 million Russians were killed and Germans, and Gypsies. They were annihilated and killed as a result of the war, and not due to a prior plan. It is possibly true that Hitler planned the extermination of disabled Germans. It is likely that these things are true, I don't know. This is the historical truth: the true Nazi Holocaust. I apologize for using the word "Holocaust". This is a word that they try to attach only to the Jews who were killed, but I use this expression in the human sense. It can also be used to refer to the Palestinians and the suffering that the Israelis [have caused] them. The Palestinians also have their own private Holocaust, and this is also true of the Gypsies, etc.
What the Zionist leadership in general and the American in particular have tried [to do] is to turn this truly tragic historical event into an industrial enterprise, an enterprise that will bring them a lot of capital, a fortune of wealth. For example, they started in Germany in the 1950s with what they called "reparations" and suddenly, in the second half of the 1990s they turned, after Germany to Austria, they turned to Switzerland and began to invent their lies, according to which, the Swiss bought the gold fillings of the Jewish victims that the Nazis had taken from the teeth [of the Jews].. The Holocaust enterprise forced the Swiss government to approve [the sum of] one billion and 250 million dollars. [Why do] so many of the Swiss support Palestinian rights..? Because Swiss society is very hurt by having discovered the robbery [of the Jews]."

Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' in East Jerusalem and PA Territories
An Arabic translation of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf is being distributed by Al-Shurouq, a Ramallah based book distributor, to East Jerusalem and territories controlled by the PA. According to Agence France Presse (Sept. 8), the book, previously banned by Israel, has been allowed by the PA and is 6th on the Palestinian best-seller list. Bisan publishers in Lebanon first published this edition in 1963 and again in 1995. The book costs about $10. The cover, presented below, shows a picture of Hitler, a swastika, and the title in both German and Arabic. The translator, Luis Al-Haj, wrote the following introduction:
"Adolf Hitler was not an ordinary man to be [forgotten] by the wheels of time... Adolf Hitler does not belong to the German people alone, he is one of the few great men who almost stopped the motion of history, altered its course, and changed the face of the world. Hence, he belongs to history."
"Hitler the soldier left behind not only a legend
stained by tragedy itself; the tragedy of a state whose dreams were
shattered, a regime whose pillars were torn down, and a political party
that was crushed. Hitler was a man of ideology who bequeathed an
ideological heritage whose decay is inconceivable. This ideological
heritage includes politics, society, science, culture, and war as science
and culture."
"The National Socialism that Hitler preached for and whose characteristics were presented in his book My Struggle, and whose principles he explained in his speeches before he took power, as well as during the 13 years he spent at the head of the German nation - this National Socialism did not die with the death of its herald. Rather, its seeds multiplied under each star."
".We cannot really understand the efforts of this man without examining the principles enclosed in his book My Struggle that the Nazis turned into the "Gospel of National Socialism."
"This translation of the book My Struggle has never been presented to Arab speakers. It is taken from the original text of the author, Adolf Hitler. The text was untouched by the censor. We made a point to deliver Hitler's opinions and theories on nationalism, regimes, and ethnicity without any changes because they are not yet outmoded and because we, in the Arab world, still proceed haphazardly in all three fields."

"The Protocol's of the Elders of Zion" - alive and well in official PA ideology
Introduction
The Palestinian Authority leadership often uses classical anti-Semitic sources to promote hatred of Israel among its population. Among other libels, Israel is said to be following the principles set down in the "Protocol's of the Elders of Zion". Today the official PA daily on its special weekly "Political -National Education" page again reverts to the infamous "Protocol's" to explain Israeli policy, even citing the precise quotes from protocols 2 and 12:
PA Daily:
"Morale and psychological manipulation has a significant place in the minds of Jews, and formed a very important source of strength in the "Hebrew State"...
Dis-information has been one of the bases of morale and psychological manipulation among the Israelis, and propaganda played an important role in the psychological prodding of world political leaders to support Zionism... The "Protocol's of the Elders of Zion" did not ignore the importance of using propaganda to promote the Zionist goals. In the second protocol is written: "Through the newspapers we will have the means to propel and to influence". In the twelfth protocol: "Our governments will hold the reins of most of the newspapers, and through this plan we will possess the primary power to turn to public opinion."

Protocols of The Elders of Zion Cited as the Strategy for Zionist Activity over the Last Century
Introduction:
The Protocols of the Elders of Zion have emerged again in the Palestinian dialectic. Under the title "Protocols of the Elders of Zion Alive and Well in the Palestinian Authority", PMW reported, in January of this year, of the use of the protocols to paint a rationale for Israeli activity, specifically in the context of accusing Israel of attempts to control and manipulate the international press. Between holocaust denials and accusations of Nazi-type behavior, reference to the protocols crop up from time to time as if they really exist.
The Text:
"Remember the history, oh Arabs!"
Written by: Dr. Jasem Hamid.
"...I focused on important dates in the world of the Zionism and the Arabs:
"And we, oh Arabs, couldn't understand during these years.
"Indeed, these are enormous achievements for them, and shameful for us. From the Diaspora a state was established. And what a state, in what location, on which land! O Muslims and Arabs, after 100 years they are fortified while you decline! At least we should fight the normalization [with Israel]."

"All Lies... No Dachau, No Auschwitz"
The exploitation of the Holocaust for Palestinian purposes is widespread in the Palestinian Authority. This exploitation includes Holocaust denial, equating Israel and Zionism to Nazism, claims that it was the Palestinians who suffered a holocaust, and others. This week is a educational broadcast on PA TV, a senior Palestinian historian in a talk with Arafat's Education Advisor said the Holocaust was a lie and Auschwitz a place for disinfecting Jews. Noteworthy also is Arafat's Advisor's denial of Israel's existence and the defining of Israel as a "cancer".
The Program:
"Pages From Our History" - November 29 Special Broadcast lamenting the UN partition of Mandatory Palestine and recognizing a Jewish State.
Participants: Dr. Jareer Al-Kidwah, advisor to "President" Arafat Dr. Issam Sissalem, history lecturer, Islamic University Gaza, portrayed frequently by the Palestinian press as an expert on Jews and Judaism.
The Discussion:
Al-Kidwah (asked regarding the UN partition):
"I want to say that this is our Palestine, from Metulla [Israel's northernmost city] to Rafiah [Southern border] and to Aqaba [Israel's southernmost point], from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea; whether they want it or not."
Sissalem:
"...Lies surfaced about Jews being murdered here and there, and the Holocaust. And, of course, they are all lies and unfounded claims. No Chelmno, no Dachau, no Auschwitz! [They] were disinfection sites...They began to publicize in their propaganda that they were persecuted, murdered and exterminated...
Committees acted here and there to establish this entity [Israel-Ed.], this foreign entity, implanted as a cancer in our country, where our fathers lived, where we live, and where our children after us will live. They always portrayed themselves as victims, and they made a Center for Heroism and Holocaust. Whose heroism? Whose Holocaust? Heroism is our nation's, the holocaust was against our people... We were the victims, but we shall not remain victims forever..."

PA daily describes: The Fable of the Holocaust
Introduction:
This latest Palestinian article defining the Holocaust as a "fable" appeared just days before Holocaust Memorial Day in the official daily, and includes the following:
by Hiri Manzour, official Palestinian Authority daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, 13.4.01
"The issue of the holocaust rises again. It defies disappearing over its half-century because the Zionist propaganda has converted it into a means to produce political and economic benefit, besides exploiting it for the advancement of occupation and settlement...
"A recently published book by an American researcher, discusses the holocaust. Employing scientific and chemical evidence, it proves that the figure of six million Jews cremated in the Nazi Auschwitz camps is a lie for propaganda, as the most spacious of the vaults in the camp could not have held even one percent of that number.
"Why, then, does this problem loom up again now, both for holocaust commemoration and denial? And who reaps practical benefit from raising the issue?
"By and large, the Zionist movement cannot tolerate inactivity in any facet of the holocaust profession, especially since intelligentsia from around the globe have begun addressing the corresponding holocaust, that is the one the Hebrew State is bringing upon the Palestinians.
"And so, the Jewish holocaust defenders themselves are on constant alert, apprehensive of the shift of attention from the fable of the holocaust to the specific, historic holocaust.
"Those who uphold the opposing view are, typically, Western academics who, by their own testimony, seek to free themselves from Jewish domination of their memory and continued extortion... "Dr. Ramses Awd, an Arab writer, published an important book, not long ago, entitled "The Holocaust - Between Denial and Upholding", in which he reviews most of the theses that deal with the acts of massacre of the Jews in the Nazi period. But this book is not the final word. At the time of its publication the entire issue was raised anew, especially in the United States, the continent that was conquered, on all levels, nearly entirely, by Zionist media.
"It seems that there was a slump in the political sale of the Zionist product, and all the standard tools lost their ability to market it anew, while the world forgets the other side, that is the Palestinian holocaust, which still seeks museums of its own...
"The question now discussed in the halls of the universities and the renowned publishing houses in the world's capitols, is: has this hen reached its expiration date, which lays golden eggs for the Jews everywhere?
"And has history, now in the prime of its potency, clarified that the victims of the holocaust were themselves those who created it? Of course there are those who claim that the Jews actively participated in directing European feelings against them, according to the theory of resisting assimilation, assimilation being the essential enemy of Zionism...
"When Zionism cannot find an enemy to separate and repel the Jews, it invents such an enemy; and so was the case with the holocausts. Its need for it [holocaust] is imperative, even organic, required to fill its message with the drama needed to get it across. What is happening now is not just an activation of the holocaust and its revival from ashes, but its reproduction and international marketing.
"Unfortunately for the Zionist circles, the West itself has awoken from its half-century coma. And so the time has come for the European intellectual to declare himself historically mature and to liberate himself from the Jewish guardianship that entangled him in existential difficulties, and in a memory filled with guilt, on top of the collective guilty verdict applied evenly by Zionism upon the nations of Europe.
"Had it been the Arabs who had raised this thesis on the holocaust and its industry, and the accompanying additions and distortions, the topic would not have aroused the interest it has. The awakening came from the West, from the heart of the very house in which they say there were massacres.
"The Hebrew state is wary not only of scientific doubts being cast upon the holocaust, but also because they see this doubt as a portal to the denunciation of all the false Jewish claims...
"And possibly it is meaningful that the latest American book to refute and disprove the fable of the holocaust comes at the same time as the repeated declarations of Rabbi Ovadia...
"We are concerned that these dramatic cries regarding the holocaust, whether for or against, are intended to cover up the corresponding holocaust, that which Zionism is now producing with missile and tank, against the Arabs in Palestine.
The components of this new holocaust are nearly all finalized, and the world has started following it closely while re-examining the whole story that has lived more than fifty years, due to the media which carried it and was its missionary, and not due to its being 'historical'."

Ghazi Jabali's Anti-Semitic Statement
On Monday, Commander of the Palestinian Police General Ghazi Jabali reacted with derision to the arrest warrant and extradition request issued against him by Israel the previous day. He said, "This reminds me of Goebbels (Hitler's propaganda minister) who said `tell lies and lies, and in the end they will believe you.' The same is true of the Jews. It is a disgrace that they are issuing an arrest warrant against me. Apparently they have learned Goebbels' methods." The extradition request against General Jabali was issued by Justice Minister Tzahi Hanegbi in the wake of Jabali's involvement with the Palestinian police unit which, according to Israel, was sent by Jabali to kill Jews. At the end of last week, an arrest warrant was issued against Jabali by an Ashkelon court. Against this background, Jabali's remarks should have provoked a storm. But anyone who monitors the statements and publications of the Palestinian Authority (PA) in recent weeks would not have been surprised. Charging Israel, Zionism and its leadership with Nazism, as well as denying the Holocaust, have become a daily routine, meshing with theories of nefarious Israeli plots. This educational battle is being waged by the official PA radio and television, as well as the newspapers financed by Yasser Arafat, which have recently adopted a strident, uninhibited and undisguised anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist line. Resemblance Between Ben-Gurion and Hitler Last Wednesday, for example, just one day before the suicide bomb attack at the pedestrian mall in Jerusalem, a wide-ranging article appeared in Al-Hayat Al-Jadeedah, the official mouthpiece of the Palestinian Authority. The article, authored by Palestinian writer Nabil Salam, presented a learned historical analysis which concluded: "Since its establishment, the racist Zionist entity has been implementing various forms of terrorism on a daily basis which are a repetition of the Nazi terror. This proves the shared roots of Nazi and Zionist thought. This also explains the cooperation between the Jews and the Nazis during World War II, through which was revealed the forged claims of the Zionists regarding alleged acts of slaughter perpetrated against the Jews during the same period." Prior to these observations, the writer assesses the historical development of Judaism and Zionism, asserting they have sought to rule over great financial wealth, and have "influenced the formulation of racist-terrorist theories such as the Nazi theory." Citing quotations from the Talmud through David Ben-Gurion, the author enlightens his readers with the following conclusion: "There is no difference between Hitler and Ben-Gurion, and if there was a difference at all, it was one of quantity and not one of substance. Anyone who investigates the crimes of the Zionists. discovers explicitly the complementary traits between Zionism, which is a racist terrorist movement, and the Nazi movement." The Holocaust As A Profitable Investment That which was said in abridged form in Nabil Salam's text was said explicitly and more extensively in an interview with Palestinian writer Ahsan al-Agha during a "cultural program" broadcast two weeks ago on Palestinian television. Al-Agha's interviewer outlined the factual basis for the conversation: "It is well-known that every year the Jews exaggerate what the Nazis did to them. They claim there were 6 million killed, but precise scientific research establishes that there were no more than 400,000." The guest, Mr. al-Agha, who is a teacher in Gaza, replied: "I think we are talking about an investment. They (the Jews) have profited materially, spiritually, politically and economically from the talk about the Nazi killings. This investment is favorable to them and they view it as a profitable activity so they inflate the number of victims all the time. In another ten years, I do not know what number they will reach, Last year, for the first time, a statistic appeared according to which 1 « million children were killed by the Nazis. This number was not previously known. If this number was indeed correct, then someone would certainly have remembered it. In my opinion, it is an investment, and as you know, when it comes to economics and investments, the Jews have been very experienced ever since the days of the Merchant of Venice." The head of the Palestinian Broadcasting Authority is Nabil Amar, a former PLO ambassador in Moscow. Amar serves as an adviser to Yasser Arafat and is a member of the Higher Committee in the talks with Israel. He is also the publisher and chief editor of the newspaper Al-Hayat Al-Jadeeda, whose employees receive their salaries directly from the PA budget. It is therefore not surprising that in tandem with the official radio and television, Al-Hayat Al-Jadeeda conveys the line dictated from above. And the line is unmistakable. For example: three days before the suicide bombing on the Jerusalem pedestrian mall, the newspaper published two instructive articles. The first was an interview with an "Islamic author" by the name of Safi Naz Kassam who offered a number of diagnoses regarding Judaism and Zionism: "There is no people or land named Israel," she said. "Israel is our patriarch Yaaqoub, peace be upon him, and the children of Israel are the sons of Yaaqoub. We are the children of Israel.. These people are the children of the Zionist entity, they are the children of the colonialist entity, they are nothing more than thieves. They came and took land which does not belong to them. Therefore, the normalization of relations with them is impossible.. even if Palestine remains occupied for hundreds of years." And with regard to Zionism, the author states: "These Zionists are not fit to establish a nation or to have their own language or even their own religion. They are nothing more than a hodgepodge. To complete the reader's education, the same issue of Al-Hayat Al-Jadeeda surveys "research" carried out by Ahmed al-Awadeh under the headline: "The History of the Conflict Between Muslims and Jews." The research claims that the Jews live by the Talmud and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The conflict between Muslims and Jews is an eternal conflict, similar to the conflict between mankind - the Muslims, and Satan - the Jews, and how unfortunate the Palestinians are that they have to serve as the Muslims' avant garde in the eternal battle of the Muslims and all the nations against the "nation of Jews." The Attackers - Rabin's Assassins These anti-Semitic publications, accompanied by breathtaking "factual diagnoses" regarding the character and soul of Jews and Zionists, appear daily in the Palestinian media. They are intended to provide broad popular education to the readers, which serves as the infrastructure for the charges against Israel and its leaders floated by the PA. In the wake of the most recent suicide bombing in Jerusalem, the allegations became more pointed and turned into an explicit theory regarding a wide-ranging Zionist plot. Last Friday, the day after the bombing, the official PA news agency published the Palestinian leadership's decisions. It was a gripping document in which a number of instructive items were raised. "All the facts we have, which were supplied by the Israelis," says the statement, "show that behind these operations stand foreign elements who were aided and assisted by extremist Israeli elements, those who also murdered Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin." But that is not all. The Israeli government, according to the official Palestinian statement, is aware of this and is attempting to hide the details from the public, as well as the collaboration which the killers received from within the Israeli establishment. And so the circle is closed and the modus operandi of the government of the Zionist-Jewish entity is revealed, one which is not at all surprising in light of the basic characteristics of Zionism, as they are known to the Palestinians from previous official publications of the Palestinian Authority.

The October 23, 1998 Wye River memorandum requires the Palestinian Authority (PA) to: "take all measures necessary in order to prevent acts of terrorism, crime and hostilities directed against the Israeli side... and to prevent incitement." Nevertheless, the official PA media organs continue to engage in crude anti-Semitic incitement and Holocaust denial, as the following examples illustrate:

More Lies and Libel Against Israel and the United States
Introduction
Throughout history, lies, half-truths and distortions have been employed to incite to violence and to legitimize mass murder.
The following excerpts -from an op-ed in the official Palestinian Authority daily- are a blatant example. The author fabricates hate-filled, racist quotes and attributes them to Israel's founding fathers. Similar falsification is used to delegitimize America's origins.
Title: "Zionism - [the] Apartheid of the Third Millenium"
"...History presents political regimes that were governed by political and economic greed, and that conquered other lands and peoples with the intent of robbing and exploiting their resources. Thus did Columbus... who carried out collective extermination of the original peoples of Latin America, laying the basis for the Western Colonialism which embraced Darwin's Theory of Evolution and Natural Selection [Survival of the Fittest -ed] -theories which presume the technologically primitive nations to be evolutionary vestiges of the apes...
"...This is the same 'Philosophy' that the Zionist Movement adopted in Palestine, against the Palestinian people. Herzl confirmed the colonialist and racist inclination of Zionism - which goes hand-in-hand with the colonialist West - when he said: '...Following the establishment of the Zionist State we will serve as Europe's buffer in Palestine against Asia, and as civilization's strike force against the barbarians, as well as European civilization's shield against the putrid odor emanating from the inhabitants of Asia.'
"...This is [the essence of] racism itself, for racism stems from exaggerating a certain race's value as opposed to that of all other races combined, as Hitler did by raising the banner of Arian blood and the doctrine of blue blood flowing in the veins!
"Colonialist racism is not limited to Herzl alone. Jabotinsky, a product of German language and thought, said: 'The Jewish nation is part of the master European race, the supreme race....' Herzl said: 'We must obliterate the Palestinians from existence, force them to perform labor that will wipe them out, so that this will be a land without a nation for a nation without a land.'
"These racist ideas of annihilation found their expression... in Ben Gurion, founder of the Zionist State, who insisted on 'cleansing the land from the gangs of primitives'...
"...The United States of America and the Zionist State are two identical cases of historical development. Each of them came into existence by invasion and mass extermination of the original residents, and [each] still occupies land belonging to others...
"...The substance of the scream of the Zionist, who plays the part of the victim, lies in the fact that 'the Chosen People have learned all methods of killing, and have practiced and executed them; they have learned how to kill and how to torture. But to die, this they did not learn from their leaders'...
"This is vile racism... exactly as was done by the apartheid regime in South Africa, which the South African nation threw into history's garbage bin, never to return..."

Palestinians Debate including the Holocaust in the Curriculum
21.2.2001
In a symposium held in Nicosia, Cyprus in April 2000, Palestinians and Israelis discussed "How to Strengthen Peace through Education." Representatives from Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia were also present. Heading the Israeli delegation was then Minister of Education, Yossi Sarid, and the Palestinian delegation was led by Anis Al-Qaq, PA Undersecretary of Planning and International Cooperation.
Al-Qaq stated at the symposium that he is "interested in teaching the history of the Holocaust in Arab and Palestinian schools... I believe that Palestine and the entire Arab world need to learn about the Holocaust, and therefore this subject should be included in the school curriculum." Al-Qaq added that "We cannot be proud of anything, until we know about the subject [of the Holocaust]." He admitted, however, that "it will be difficult to remove the anti-Israel expressions from the Arab curricula."1
The Palestinian press did not report on the symposium, with the exception of one newspaper that omitted Al-Qaq's speech. The Arab media on the other hand, reported that Al-Qaq told the Israeli Minister of Education that the PA established a committee of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, to examine the possibility of including the Holocaust in the Palestinian curriculum in the next school year. Al-Qaq's remarks provoked anger among Palestinian intellectuals. Following is a survey of some of the responses by leading Palestinian figures.
Dr. Musa Al-Zu'but, Chairman of the Education Committee of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) said, "There will be no such attempt to include the history of the Holocaust in the Palestinian curriculum. The Legislative Council enacted a law about the general framework [of the school curriculum]. The Council in general, and the Education Committee in particular, follow what is being taught in the curriculum, and evaluate whether anything contradicts or harms Palestinian history." Al-Zu'but continued, "The Holocaust has been exaggerated in order to present the Jews as victims of a great crime, to justify [the claim] that Palestine is necessary as a homeland for them, and to give them the right to demand compensation. When the history of the Holocaust is taught [in the Palestinian schools], it must be explained to the students that the Holocaust was inflated and that we, the Palestinians, had to live with the results: Our country, Palestine, was lost and was occupied by Israel. It is better to teach the students about what is happening to our people."
Al-Zu'but expressed his hope that in his statements, Al-Qaq intended that it must be taught that the Holocaust was blown out of proportion. He concluded by saying, "We [the Palestinians] have no interest in teaching the Holocaust."
"If the purpose is to express sympathy, this is useless for us, since we are the ones who suffered as a result."2
Chairman of the Political Committee of the PLC, Ziyad Abu Amr, asked what explanation was given by Al-Qaq for the need to teach the Holocaust to Palestinians. "Did Al-Qaq call for teaching the Holocaust because of Yossi Sarid's initiative to include Mahmoud Darwish's poems in the Israeli curriculum?" he asked, adding: "Why must we teach the literature [i.e. the "Jewish version" of the Holocaust] of a people and a state who occupied our land? When the situation changes, we will be able to be more open to their literature and heritage, just as we are now in regard to other countries."
Abu Amr added that in any case "This topic cannot be mandatory. People who studied the history of the Holocaust in the past have come to very different conclusions. Why, then, must we force our students to study the history and the heritage of the Jews? We are in dire need of studying our own heritage and history. Likewise, our relations with them must be recovered first, through their recognition of our people's rights in their entirety. The fundamental problems between us and them have not been solved and I do not believe that this is the time to program our children by teaching them Jewish history in general, and not only the Holocaust."3
PLC Member and Fatah leader, Hatem Abd Al-Qader, said that teaching the Holocaust in the Palestinian schools "is a great danger to the developing Palestinian mentality. It would be dangerous to change the Palestinian curriculum in such a direction. First, the Jews should learn about our disaster, the massacres, the murder and the exile, because this disaster is still alive. As for the so-called Holocaust, it has already been moved into the museum of History." Abd Al-Qader added, "We cannot annul the Palestinian historic dream, even if we remove it from the official Palestinian rhetoric... This land was promised to us by Allah, while it was promised to the Jews by Balfour. If such a decision [about teaching the Holocaust] is made, it will undoubtedly ruin the Palestinian dream and aspirations. It will entirely obliterate the past, present and future of the Palestinians. We, in the Legislative Council, will oppose any experiment that might harm the mind, the identity or the historic roots of the Palestinians."4
Palestinian historian, Dr. Isam Sisalem, who has in the past denied the existence of the gas chambers, expressed his amazement at Al-Qaq's statements. "We as Palestinians," he said, "condemn the indiscriminate killing of many people by the Germans, but we cannot allow that the killing of the Jews be used to oppress another nation, namely the Palestinians. The Nuremberg courts exploited [Jewish] lies to divide Palestine, claiming that the Jewish community had suffered annihilation and was in need of a homeland in which to settle. What interests us, however, is our own people who suffered from the exile and destruction of thousands of its people. We are more entitled [than the Jews] to the support of all of the nations."
Dr. Sisalem said that, since the Stockholm convention in 2000 requiring all European states to include the history of the Holocaust in their curricula, the Western media has lied and exaggerated about the Holocaust. He said, "The Zionist movement exploited it in order to disguise its loathsome crimes in Palestine. It also continues to extort the European states to this very day. The truth is that the Zionist leaders negotiated with the Nazis and signed agreements with them under which many Jews were expelled to Palestine."5
Palestinian intellectual Abdallah Horani also expressed astonishment at Al-Qaq's statements: "I don't believe that Israel and the Zionist movement need the efforts of the Palestinians to spread the false story about the Holocaust. There are those whose loyalty to Israel... is greater than their loyalty to the national and Pan-Arab cause. Instead of talking about the so-called Holocaust, Al-Qaq should have followed the doubts [about it] which are gaining momentum in the international arena and among leading European intellectuals. He should have spoken about the massacres perpetrated by the Israelis against the defenseless Palestinian people, who, wherever they are found, still suffer from the cruel Zionist terror." Al-Horani added that Al-Qaq's statements "remind him of those who `volunteered' to refrain from talking about the return of the refugees to the land from which they were driven out in 1948. These declarations come in the framework of what is known as the `culture of peace,' which is supported by the US... The goal of this `culture of peace' is to propagate the American interpretation of globalization, which means giving into the American terms, and consequently to the Israeli terms. The meaning of this globalization is also to erase the memory of nations, to efface their national heritage and history, [and to neutralize] any opposition to foreign ideological or cultural invasion."
Horani warned of the "culture of peace and its followers" in the region and called on Arab intellectuals who worry about the history and heritage of their nation... to take an antagonistic approach towards this culture and to such a peace.6
Leader of the "Palestinian Islamic Jihad" Movement in Gaza, Sheik Nafez `Azzam, said in reaction to Al-Qaq's statements that "in light of the current political situation, one might start to believe sometimes that he lives in an imaginary world. It is inconceivable that a nation would respect its murderers and the robbers of its rights and its land. Why do people speak only of the Jewish victims in WWII, why don't we even mention our [own] victims and martyrs?! Before anything else, we must teach the history of this conflict which symbolizes the great wrong done to the Palestinian people, by the silence and conspiracies in which most of the world's governments take part."
`Azzam stated, "Whoever puts his trust in brainwashing is bound to fail... Such a program will have no influence on the formation of the minds of the [sons of] nation.
The intention to teach the Holocaust in the Palestinian schools contradicts the natural order of the universe," he concluded.7
On the other hand, Sheik Jamal Mansour, a Hamas leader, said, "It is not fair to deny the Holocaust or to diminish the importance of the persecution that the Jews have suffered. We must clearly condemn it and stand by the oppressed- whoever they may be-and against the oppressor." However, Sheik Mansour explained that the problem is with "the West, which takes a rigid stance when it comes to the history of the Jews with the Nazis and forces all of the governments and peoples to teach one history of the Holocaust. In addition, the West uses Zionist historians in order to establish this [narrative] and turn it into an axiom, which no one is allowed to question."
"At the same time," adds Sheik Mansour, "they want us to forget all of the massacres, the tens of thousands of victims, the millions of exiles, our confiscated land, our occupied land, and our blood which continues to be spilled... The Jews have mobilized the so-called free and civilized world in order to bow the heads of its victims, to apologize for their history and to commit to their wellbeing and to protect their strength in the future, and all this because of one crazy man who was an enemy to the entire world and not the Jews alone, and who murdered 20 million Russians with his own hands."8

Muslim Struggle against World Jewry Expressed Openly on Palestinian Television (13.2.02)
The following is an excerpt from the statements of Dr. Ahmed Abu-Halabiyeh, dean of higher education at the Islamic University in Gaza, on a Palestinian talk show this week:
It is as though Allah was preparing the Islamic nation for the fact that there will be Jews in this land, and as though he was giving Muslims the message: `O' Muslims, prepare yourselves for the struggle with world Jewry! So that you will be on the winning side!'
And as though Allah's wisdom is evidence that the winning side in the struggle with the Jews are the Muslims."

Hatred of Jews - an integral part of Palestinian ideology
By Itamar Marcus and Ruthie Blum, Palestinian Media Watch
Introduction:
The following two items, the first from a televised religious sermon and the second from a Palestinian daily, are examples of the anti-Semitism common in Palestinian broadcasts and texts.
Moslem Sermon
...Say to those who believe not!the Jews!say to those who believe not, act according to your power, for we too are acting! And wait! For we too, shall wait.' Wait for your graves! Wait for the final battle! ...
.O Jews!.We will act to restore our rights! .You are usurpers! Your arrogance will end one of these days!.
. `[The Jew's] aim everywhere is to spread mischief through the earth and destroy crops and cattle. Allah does not love such mischief.'
[The Jews] destroyed everything: the crops, the seeds, and the birds, to the point that the environment itself is oppressed by the Jew!.
Allah, deal harshly with the Jews and those who aid them.
Allah, destroy them through their own stratagems!.
Allah, render us victorious over the Jews and those who support them!."

PA Libel: Jewish Religion sees Arabs as Stage between Jew and Monkey (15.12.02)
By Itamar Marcus
Palestinian Media Watch
A basic tenet of Palestinian Authority [PA] anti Semitism and racism is to define both Jews and the Jewish religion as evil by nature. In the following text, a Palestinian Minister firsts libels the Jewish people by asserting that murder of Arabs is a tenet of Zionism. He then denigrates Judaism by saying that the Zionist killing of Arabs comes directly from the Jewish religion, because Judaism sees the Arab as subhuman - "the stage between the Jew and the monkey".
The following is a statement from Palestinian Authority Minister of Supplies Abd El-Aziz Shahin in a PA TV interview:
"Since the nineteenth century the Zionist mind has been built upon the killing of the Arab people. They do not want a single Arab on Palestinian soil. This is a matter that exists with every Zionist, whether he is right-wing, center, or left-wing.because the Zionist education. in their religious schools, where they learn that they are the chosen people of God and we are the others, we are considered the stage between the Jew and the monkey. This is a basis of the Jewish religion, and from this comes the killing of the Arab people in Palestine."

Anti-Semitic "Protocols" Published in Palestinian Press (20.2.03)
IDF Spokesperson
In a new chapter appearing in the most recent edition of the A-Shuhada'a newspaper (no. 47), sections of the age-old, anti-Semitic forgery, "The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion", were published.
A-Shuhada'a, published by the political office of the Palestinian National Security Force, relates to many political, military, and economic topics in accordance with new developments in the Palestinian, Arab, and international arenas. For example, an editorial penned by Ahmed Hilas, the paper's Editor-in-Chief, addresses the current Cairo talks between Fatah and Hamas.
A-Shuhada'a is an official newspaper of the Palestinian Authority intended for officers of the National Security Force in the Gaza Strip. In a chapter that relates to military matters, there is an article that examines Israel's military industry, as well as an article that reflects upon Islam's stance vis-a-vis the Jews.
An article published in the February 17, 2003 edition of Al-Hayat Al-Jedida, the official newspaper of the Palestinian Authority, brought this information to light.
